With the new advent of body art becomming increasingly available and studios opening at an exponential pace safety standards have come into question. Body Artists for the most part are required little if any training to perform basically a medical based practice in many states. This has created community awareness and health concerns for our selves as wellas our clients. Cities, States and Counties have increasingly developed regulations to protect the artists and thier community. Many require the minimum of basic first aid and CPR and also include Blood Borne Pathogen Prevention Training. However, the availability of this training is very limited and the ones that are in place do not meet the needs of the artist according to OSHA atate and Federal requirements. This is the reason BBPTIA is here. Our instructors are practicing body art professionals with a minimum of 3 years in the field and the founder is a registered nurse and has been a full time tattooist/piercer for 20 yrs.
